Better late than never

A wet cloudy weekend didn't bode well; I didn't think
it possible to show its current face to me
...

5am Monday morning and Supermoon lives up to its name*!*

22 Good eggs say hi *!*:

Did you have clear skies?

Baino said...

Wow you were lucky. No clear Skies in Sydney it's been bucketing down for two days.

Alas, not in San Francisco... we had a huge storm -60mph winds and
2" of rain. I looked out and up once during the night and told La Bella Luna "I KNOW you are there".... your photo is stunning!
Thank you for sharing this so I can see what I missed!

♥ Robin ♥

Baino, you're right I was double lucky - I almost deleted the images, my camera was having trouble focusing and it looked like I'd got a snap of a milk coloured marble ;) so I slid the highlights button along until the shadows appeared*!*

Hello Robin, thanks for visiting :)
I hope you get chance to catch a glimpse on Sunday or Monday evening. There have been some stunning images captured from around the world*!*

I didn't know about the enormous moon till afterwards. Sorry to be unpoetic but by the next day, it looked same size as normal to me!

I love your photo though.

i missed it with no good excuse.
:(

i admire that you were able to take a night shot like this, annie. i turn all the dials on my camera but cannot manage to figure out how to capture the glittering sky.

annie, you have your own way of turning a phrase. often i reread your words several times. you paint.

love
kj

Beautiful shot. We were lucky to have clear skies too.

We had the same as Robin, disappointing! your photo is beautiful Annie.

Gleds I thought it brighter than the full moons we normally get to see but as I missed seeing it at its fullest.

Winterwood said...

clear clear skies here but I thought the moon looked its 'normal' size... I wonder why it didnt look bigger here? it suprised me!

Winterwood said...

oh just read thru the other comments and have to agree with Gleds on this one!

Kj - I usually fluctuate between the close up setting and the landscape setting - telephoto lens but I've had no luck with the night time setting when trying to capture the moon or stars ...I know, sounds barmy*!*

Hilary - Good to hear the skies where clear for you :)

Lori - :( I thought you would have had a great view of it over your beach.

Krissie - I always think over the ocean or top of a mountain must have the best vantage points, strange isn't it. I was looking at pictures from around the world this morning and there was one from Brisbane with an orange tint to it - it was pitch black and raining over our place and we saw nothing.
To see how big and varied it looked google

You wouldn't probably see the extra brightness here. Because it's London and everything's TOO bright... know what I mean...

Oh my! You are such an amazingly talented photographer. This photo is outstanding!

That super moon just seemed to hang in the sky right above my deck. It seemed to be so close I felt I could almost touch it. What a beautiful experience it was!

Linda Sue said...

Your photo is incredible! one of the BEST of all the moon photos lately. We did not get anything but the usual dim glow through blankets of dense cloud. Thanks for mooning us!

Bimbimbie said...

Linda Sue - grinning, you're welcome ;)

I sure missed out on something spectacular. Our night sky was completely shrouded in clouds, wind, and heavy rain. Bad timing for us.

What were you doing up at that time of day? Not me. It was cloudy here and I didn't get to see the super moon at all :(
